Ruth Roman was born on June 22nd, 1939, on June 22, 1939 in Lynn Massachusetts. The actress was the first child born to Lithuanian Jewish parents Mary Pauline Gold & Abraham Roman. Her father's death as a Carnival barker when Ruth was just a young girl, she had to help provide for the family by working as a maid and server. Ruth went to school in Boston's tenement region, which was the most deplorable. However, she left school only after two years to take on a acting career. This path was fraught with difficulties. When she was offered a job in New York as a model for a detective magazine she was unable to get work on stage. She then worked as an hat-checker at a night club before calling the shots and moving back to Boston. She made the ends meet by working by working as an usher in the morning, while working at night with the New England Repertory Company, her first regular acting gig. Drama studies led her to earn her degree from Bishop-Lee Theatre School.
